About Minu

Minu Achrekar is an emerging artist based in Leeds, Yorkshire UK.
She has been painting seriously in the last 7-8 years and is self-taught exploring different mediums – acrylics, oils, watercolours and glass colours. In the last three years, Minu started to work with alcohol inks and has been captivated by the fast pace, vibrancy and unpredictability of this medium.

Minu is inspired by the natural world and all things in it and chooses versatile topics. She is currently working on a series of rural and semi urban landscapes inspired by her love of travelling . Minu wants each of her painting to bring a feeling of positivity , strength or nostalgic pleasure to the viewer .

Minu has had a lifelong passion for arts. As a student, she gave competitive exams in arts and also competed at district level . Now as a healthcare worker in the UK , she paints alongside. She is a member of the Horsforth Art Society and has exhibited in several art trails, group exhibitions and art fairs in the UK. Her work is in many private collections around the world and she has been interviewed on radio three times and newsprint a couple of times. Recently one of her cityscape paintings won an award from the Leeds Civic Trust and has been chosen to feature in the Leeds City Calender for 2024.

Minu's Events and Exhibitions

2018 – Minu held a solo exhibition in Headingley, Leeds when she raised significant amount of money for charity.

2020 – October – she held a solo exhibition at Seven Arts cafe, Chapel Allerton, Leeds.

2020 – December – online exhibition during the Pandemic to raise money for children’s charity.

2021 – December – she was selected for an international art exhibition in a prestigious art venue at Nehru Centre, Worli, Mumbai, India.

2022 – April / May – Minu was selected for a group show in Cole’s Gallery, Leeds

2022 – June / July – selected for the ‘Art at Roundhay Park’ spring show.

2022 – June – selected as one of the top 50 emerging and established artists to exhibit in a prestigious show, Flux 2022, London.

2022 – July / August selected for celebratory group show for 150 yrs of Roundhay Park.

2022 December and Jan 2023 – ‘Intrigue’ – a solo exhibition at Seven Arts, Chapel Allerton, Leeds

2023 – June – Prize awarded by Leeds Civic Trust and inclusion of painting in Leeds city 2024 calendar.

2023- June – open studios Adel exhibition and gave live demonstrations.

2023 – August – paintings selected for show ‘Naturally abstract ‘ at Art Roundhay Park, Leeds.

2023 – October – exhibitor at Contemporary Art Fair, Harrogate.
2023 – November – shown at a group exhibition – North Art Gallery, Leeds.

2023 – November – Seven Arts, Chapel Allerton.

2023 – Dec – international group exhibition, Nehru Trade Centre, India
